June and July [Jul. 21st 2009, 01:22 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , ]

Omg I haven't updated this space for a looong time. I find it really funny how I used to have this urge to blog way back when there was school and homework and exams... And then now when I'm having my hols waiting for matriculation, I just don't have that blogging urge anymore!-- even if I spend some days at home bumming around being ever so free.

Anyways. Life's been okay! NUS Business Camp 09 (FOC) was a blast. Well probably cause I've never attended one like that. Everyone there was so full of energy and so enthu, I can't help but be influenced as well. Moreover, we didn't stayover in sleeping bags or tents! We actually had the privillege to have a room each in Prince George's Park Residences.. How cool is that. We had lack of sleep for 2 nights, (we slept at 3.45am and had to wake up at 7.30am on the first day), but despite that I felt I still had a good 2 nights worth of rest probably cos of the private rooms we all were entitled to! Games wise.... won't elaborate on that. Fun + dirty overall. The last night was the best cause we got to dine at Riverboat Marina (this floating boat house) at Santa Fe Tex Mex Grill, buffet style. Woah the potato lagsane and the Seafood Chimichangas were damn good. Sadly, our initially 3D2N camp was reduced to 2D2N. We had to break camp cause 2 from the SDE camp had been tested H1N1 positive, and they were also staying at PGPR-- a block away from us. The camp ended damn well. We proceeded back to school after our dinner and did debriefing. Then ended off with the NUS Bizad cheer medley with all 12 OG cheers combined. The Bizad spirit was totally there. Awesomeeeeeee...

KPMG Last day (the long awaited 30th of june!)

5.1.2009 - 30.6.2009 )

Triuni Camp happened a few weeks later. I think H1N1 was circling within the camp cause right after camp, apparently everyone except 2 in my og had gotten fever/ fallen ill. And I know of 2 whom attended the camp and has been tested H1N1 positive. I myself had gotten high fever of up to 39.4 degrees celsius. Gee. Went to doc but he said he didn't see a need for me to check cuz I was in the low-risk group, hence passed it off as the common flu. I wouldn't be surprised if what I had was H1N1.

Anyways! Triuni was also quite happening, but IMO less fun as compared to FOC! 2nd day's games were fun. We had The Amazing Race challenge, which involved loads and loads of eating and running. 3rd day's games at sentosa were rather disappointing. Probably cause I've experienced the ones in FOC, which was uber fun. My OG, The Incredibles' Violet, won the title of champion OG overall! = 3 Marble Slab Creamery Ice Cream Cake vouchers and a few $20 Marche Vouchers. :D

Last but not least, O Week Dry Run. with good company from FOC's Doraemon, and thankfully, Annabelle and Benj!

Times Square can't shine as bright as the Flu, I swear it's true. [May. 28th 2009, 10:47 pm]
Omg. Now we might not even go to USA anymore. Hahaha. 3 more confirmed cases in SG tonight, of which 2 came from USA.. This is a joke.. I've no idea whether to laugh or to cry.

Not like I'm scared shitless about this flu, I actually believe H1N1 is here to stay, and as time passes I believe the Media and the Governments are gonna stop emphasizing on its seriousness (cause i dont think it is serious-- those who have died had further complications anyway.) Gee.. I just don't mind not going anymore cuz I don't wish to be quarantined when I'm back just cos one of my family members, one of those in my flight, or me got the virus.. Which is quite likely since I'm going to visit crowded places, moving in and out of hotels, and taking a few domestic flights. Contact with germs much. I still want to go out, do stuffs! Mom's being really paranoid about the whole travelling thing now. Guess it's better staying on the safe side huh. There's still next year. DisneyWorld won't move away anyway.....

Omg, all the mental prep and all the anticipation of DisneyWorld, NYC, Universal Studios, Niagara Falls, White House, Hersheys Factory,.... may just be for nothing........ Hoping for the best! Like, an H1N1 cure or some sort (no idea why the media uses "an" but they do)..

Work vs USA [May. 26th 2009, 09:16 pm]
Funny how I feel so thankful at the end of a work day every day, yet right now I realize that I might oddly miss working in KPMG when my work term is done. Sent in my resignation letter today, both to HR dept and my unit manager.

I had to let out the news to my senior yesterday that I might have to quit, and she sorta told me to try not to cause she would still need me for alot of work, but that she'd respect my decision especially since i have already bought my air tickets.. Then Nicole from HR dept confirmed with me in later afternoon that company rules disallowed me from taking No-pay Leave nor make up my absence for an extra week in July after my contract term ends, since I might be going overseas for 2 weeks while my contract is still on. Sigh.. I was given an ultimatum. She was cool about the whole matter, and anyway, I'm helping the company save cost by having forfeited my bonus! I'm at such a losing end. Sort of expected it already but I just never thought the decision would be hard.

So overnight, I brainstormed on Work to help senior + $1.2K Bonus + More stress less fun before uni, versus Florida + Fun fun fun ! + Risk being the first H1N1 transmitter into Singapore. >: O OK so i thought of the opportunity costs (very high opp cost) and decided on my trip.. Cos it's hard to come by that the 6 of us in the family can make it on a long trip together due to clash of schedules. If we defer the trip, no idea when the next time going there will be..

So I broke the news to my senior about my confirmed decision today. It wasn't very easy cause I felt like I have pangseh-ed her and left her with more burden. Yes, heaps of tax files and submission deadlines.... Having seen her break down twice in the past 5 months cos of work stress isn't a very nice thing to witness.. Really feel awful for her. She took it fine though. She thanked me for the help and expressed her sian-ness cos she has been relying on me alot and has been comfortable working with me.. Even added that my senior manager/one of the bigger bosses, whom I work under, mentioned to her that I do a good job (haha very flattering). That kinda made me feel like my efforts aren't gone to waste.. that all the neckaches and backaches I have to bear every week are worth it after all. Now i don't feel like leaving already, but ah well, it was a decision (maybe a rash one) that i had to make by today, in order to fully serve 2 weeks of extended service prior to resignation, as stated in the contract...

Now, Eastern USA, you better not let me down.

Streetfighterzzz [May. 3rd 2009, 04:09 pm]
I just had to post this... Got it from Cel's lj!

Happened on Labour Day, at Buns place.. James & songyao doing a Streetfighter scene as some double dare from our "Heart Attack" game. Cheap thrills srslyyy! Notice the ball that flies out of james' hand from his first 'attack'. Interesting improvisation, haha.

Long weekends feel goooood...

Reasons why work/weekdays is/are bad:
1. Morning crappy rush hours on the train to Raffles Place MRT
2. Eyesight worsens evidently
3. Backaches and neckaches at the end of each day
4. Tired eyes from staring at the computer most of the time
5. Feel even more inferior after looking at all the clients' income (filthy rich people :( )
6. Very, very sedentary job
7. Evening crappy rush hours on the train home

Of course, there's the good sides to work that I just refuse to think of and acknowledge for now. Better be off enjoying sunday before monday comes again!

On another note, am so glad that ma-ma is back home! Recovered but she seems weaker now. She can't stand up on her own... Hope it's just a momentary thing due to 2 weeks of inactiveness in the hospital.. In any case, at least she's back so we don't have to worry about how she is doing without my maid's supervision in the middle of the night at the hosp like before : )
